                     <p><name key="ThoTor001" role="other" type="person">Þormóður Torfason</name> bought the manuscript in Iceland
                        in <date when="1662">1662</date> for the Danish <name type="person" role="owner" key="Kri002">king</name>,
                        and it was moved to <name type="organisation" role="repository" key="KB">Det kongelige bibliotek</name> in
                        Copenhagen. In <date from="1682" to="1704">1682-1704</date>, Þormóður borrowed it in Stangarland and <name
                           key="AsgJon001" role="copist" type="person">Ásgeir Jónsson</name> made a copy of it. Many articles have
                        been written about the provenance of the manuscript before it was owned by the king. Jón Helgason believes
                        that Þormóður got it in Hólar (<bibl><ref target="MI2">Jón Helgason 1955:xiv-xv, xvii.</ref></bibl>). </p>
