                              <p> Both the P.E.Ó.-catalogue and Jón Þorkelsson consider the scribe to be <name type="person" key="JonJon047">Jónas Jónsson</name> á
                                 <placeName>Stóra-Vatnshorni</placeName>. Kristinn Kristjánsson, in his BA-thesis from 1979 states that the scribe is <name type="person" key="JohJon004">Jóhannes Jónsson</name> (1798-1877), Jóhannes the blind, a farmhand at
                                 <placeName>Stóra-Vatnshorni</placeName>, later a farmer at
                                 <placeName>Smyrlahóll</placeName> (pp. 16-18).
                                 M. J. Driscoll in "The unwashed children of Eve", based on the differences in the script type, finds it unlikely that <name type="person" key="JohJon004">Jóhannes Jónsson</name> was a scribe of Lbs 1217 4to (pp. 66-67). </p>
