The binding is a modern (cardboard) case for storing the leaves, which are not bound anymore. On the outside of the case, the original thick wooden plates (oak) and leather straps are preserved. Between the straps on the back of the case, "COD. ISL. Papp. 4:o N:o 1" is written in golden letters. The wooden boards have traces and scratches, a sticker reading "Isl. 4.o No 1 Kongl. Bibl. Stockholm" and the number "162" are found on the front board. There is a hole for a clasp or tie.

Þekkist sem heild ekki annars staðar en á þessum blöðum. Blöðin voru i mjög rangri röð, og mörg þeirra sneru öfugt, þegar þau komu mér i hendur 13. Okt. 1920. Hefi eg raðað þeim og sett á þau blaðatal á neðri spássíu með rauðu bleki, og ætla eg svo rétt samsett og snúið blöðum. Bl. 1 nú = áður bl. 3 2 ---------7 3 -- 9 (öfugt). 4 -- 11 (öfugt). 5 -- 8 (öfugt). 6 -- 4 7 -- 5 8 -- 6 9 -- 4 10 --10 11 -- 12 (öfugt). 12 -- 1 (ögugt). verte! Bl. 13 nú = áður 13 14 -- 14.
