Low
  • Initial: Large first initial, later initial smaller. Decorated with ornaments in black ink.
High
  • Variants are written in another hand in the margin. According to Árni Magnússon's account on an accompanying slip, the variants come from a book belonging to lögmaður Sigurður Björnsson from Saurbær (1643-1723), which was written by lögréttumaður Sigurður Jónsson from Knörr (1633-1717); the source is presumably AM 281 4to. Inside the bilfolio AM-slip, which is bound in the front of the manuscript, there is an even smaller slip, possibly in the same hand as the variants, beginning with: "Sagann af Ragnare Lodbrök sem fornum var kongur yfer Danmork Norge Svïarïke, Biarmalande Finnlande, Einglande, Skotlande, Gelande, Windlande og SkotSaxlande: dö i Englande þä "
Moderately decorated (later)
Bound in a binding from 1700 to 1730 and 1880 to 1920. The binding has a parchment spine on which Árni Magnússon wrote: "Ragnars Saga Loðbrökar." The original parchment cover - from a missal in Latin containing notes - was partly replaced by a marbled paper-cover in 1911. On the pastedown Kålund has noted the date 7/8-1911.
The parchment leaves have been transferred to Acc. 7 β Hs 2 (Graduale Gufudalense), now constituting fols. 22 and 24.
