CodexPaperi, 149, i320mm x 195mmNote: The leaves of items 1-3 are shorter than the rest. The height in this first part is 300mmThere are diffrent watermarks. The watermark on fol. 87 resembles a wine glass. The watermark on fols. 62, 17 and 31 has the letters 'MC' below an image. The watermark on fols. 28 and 89-138 shows a castle with a total of three towers, a larger one in the middle and a smaller one at either side. A different castle or fortess is visible on fols. 1r-10v. This one shows three equally sized elements, a gate with a pointed roof and a flag on top, a two round tower at either side. On fols. 140-145 there is a larger image, possibly displaying a city with two circles with crosses inside them on top. The other side of these bifolia shows a small inifinity sign. The watermark on fols. 146-149 is yet a different image of a castle with again two round towers and a gate. This time the gate is considerably smaller than the towers, and the towers both have a window. Beneath the image the letter L and a star can be seen.Later foliation: Foliated in the upper right hand corner. Due to an earlier misordering, some leaves were numbered incorrectly. The foliation was corrected twice, once by Jón Sigurðsson. Average: The first part of the manuscript (items 1-3) is is good shape, the second part (items 4-7) is in worse shape, some leaves being damaged by moisture and/or wear. Text is lost on fol. 115.235mm x 140mmJón ErlendssonHum cursivaMajor

Info: The end of Þorsteins þáttr bæjarmagns was copied onto 123v by Árni Magnússon.
Low
  • Initial: A single decorated initial on fol. 31r.
Medium
  • There are several marginal notes, some of them most likely in Bishop Brynjólfur Sveinsson's hand.
  • Árni Magnússon added the final lines of Þorsteins þáttur bæjarmagns on fol. 123v.
  • Fols. 146-149 are later insertions, containing seventeeth century collector's accounts in Danish.
Plain (later)
The manuscript is bound in in a modern standard half-binding. Dimensions: 328 x 208 x 31. Strips of manuscript waste with text on them survive from an earlier binding. Some have been incorporated back into the binding at the back of the manuscript. Others are stored in the manuscript's case. The four last leaves did not originally belong to the manuscript. During an earlier binding, these leaves were inserted. The present order has been indicated by Jón Sigurðsson.
