Info: J. Jónsson Vatnshorni í Haukadal. Both the P.E.Ó.-catalogue and Jón Þorkelsson consider the scribe to be Jónas Jónsson á Stóra-Vatnshorni. Kristinn Kristjánsson, in his BA-thesis from 1979 states that the scribe is Jóhannes Jónsson (1798-1877), Jóhannes the blind, a farmhand at Stóra-Vatnshorni, later a farmer at Smyrlahóll (pp. 16-18). M. J. Driscoll in "The unwashed children of Eve", based on the differences in the script type, finds it unlikely that Jóhannes Jónsson was a scribe of Lbs 1217 4to (pp. 66-67).
Medium
  • Along with the manuscript is a double folio in the hand of Jón Þorkelsson, with information about the manucript's origin as well as a list of contents. "Kom 4.11.1896 frá Daða Daviðssyni á Kötlustöðum í Vatnsdal, fyrir milligöngu Björns alþingismanns Sigfússonar í Grímstungum".
  • On the front-fly-leaf 2r-v there is a later table of contents.
