grease spots on the paper, and it has become dark brown through storage and

Low
- Initial: Very plain and only slightly enlarged initial at the beginning of the text.
- Paratext: Two v-shaped endings.
Low
- There are very few marginal comments in the manuscript, and they are in a different hand than that of main text. The only addition in Hrólfs saga kraka is a correction of a missing pronoun: 10v, "+þau". The additions in Hálfdanar saga Eysteinssonar are in a different hand and they are: "Lurland", 26r and "Róst Stadium", 26v. On the fly-leaf Árni Magnússon noted the names of the sagas in the manuscript. Magnus Einarsson wrote underneath: "Úr bokum er eg feck af Sira Olafe Gisla syne ä Hofe i Vopnafirde.", a sentence that originated from Arni Magnusson and can also be found in AM 349 4to and other manuscripts.
Plain (later)
The manuscript is currently bound in BD-standard binding, lined with
grey canvas; corners and spine in mustard-coloured canvas.
An older binding is preserved: grey cardboard from ca. 1750, bookbinder Matthias Larsen Bloch. The binding is lined with
waste paper containing a text in Danish. The number "No 591c" and
the titles: "Hrolfs Saga Kraka", "af Halfdani Eisteinssyni" and
"af Fridþiófi frækna" are written on the front cover. The shelfmark
and number of leaves are noted in a different hand on the inner side of
the binding.

Árni Magnússon: OwnerThe scribe probably wrote the manuscript for
his own use, because it does not seem to have passed on to other owners
before Árni Magnússon received
it. The manuscript was probably part of a larger codex (cf. Loth, Sønderdelte arnamagnæanske papirhåndskrifter,
122-142). According to Loth, the codex originally consisted of the the
following parts: AM 552 f 4to, AM 546 f 4to, AM 552 e 4to, AM 552 a 4to, AM 552 i 4to, AM 591 f 4to, AM 552 d 4to, AM 552 o 4to, AM 565 a 4to, AM 565 b 4to, AM 441 4to, AM 552 kα 4to,
AM 591 c 4to, AM 591d 4to, AM 591 h 4to, AM 459 4to.
